Randger R535. Based on the Fiat Talento it measures 5.4m long and 1.96m wide, making it an ideal option for exploring pretty much anywhere a car can go – even the local supermarket car parks.

The Randger R535 is a very impressive compact camper offering much of what you’d expect to find in a much larger motorhome, but just on a smaller scale. This includes – A kitchen area, a Dinette, a Wash Room with Shower and Toilet, and still capable of sleeping four thanks to the rising roof.

Driving this camper is just like driving a car. with its 1.6-litre 125bhp EcoJet engine, it’s very smooth and comfortable. The driver and passenger seat are fitted with seat covers to match the cream faux leather seats in the dinette, the front seats are complete with centre armrests. In the centre of the dash, a 7-inch touchscreen accesses a SatNav and a DAB radio, a USB port and is Bluetooth enabled, handy for using your phone while on the road.

As a result of the rear washroom, visibility through the rear-view mirror is minimal, this is overcome by a reversing camera being fitted. This can be used either permanently for rear view, or just when reverse is selected.

The camper features a sliding door on each side of the camper (with a slide-open window in each) so access to the habitation area is easy. Very conveniently, access can also be gained easily from the cab. On a warm day, it’s really lovely to open up both sliding doors to admire the views whilst having a spot of lunch, the through breeze can also be very welcoming. The Randger's stylish design also incorporates darkened windows in the habitation area adding privacy and shade from the sun. Of a night time, the window blinds can be placed against each window for maximum privacy.

The dinette situated behind the driver’s seat has a forward-facing bench seat with two seatbelts and headrests, meaning four can travel safely. The dining table itself can be removed and placed in a tripod for dining outside, and it can also be stowed away in the wash room to create more space for travelling. The dinette is completed by having a strip light above the window giving plenty of light during hours of darkness.

The kitchen area has a two-burner gas hob with electric ignition and stainless-steel sink, both of which have a glass lid. This is nothing out of the ordinary for a camper of this size, but the abundance of worktop space either side is. I have seen 6 berth motorhomes with less worktop space! Underneath is a cutlery drawer, two further and larger, good sized drawers, sliding cupboard doors to access shelved storage and a corner unit with two small shelves and a 4x bottle holder on the bottom to store your favourite tipple. To the rear of the camper is a 41-litre fridge with a small freezer compartment, which provides further worktop above. The Truma control panel is also located here, on the wall, which is where you can switch on the diesel-powered blown air heating and hot water system. Storage is always of a premium in campervans of this size. and the Randger is no different in this respect. However the worktop space and the kitchen design certainly helps with this issue.

This is a four-berth campervan with sleeping arrangements consisting of a double bed made up in the dining area and a second double in the pop-top roof.

The bed in the pop-top is a great size measuring 198cm (6'6") long x 122cm (4'0") wide, and is complete with a mattress and reading lights at one end. The elevating roof is easily lifted by releasing a clip either side at the rear and gently pushing the roof upwards, this is assisted by the gas struts. Bringing it back down, is simply the reverse procedure.

Assembly of the dining area bed uses the tabletop on a couple of support bars to plug the gap between the two sofas, and another couple of hinged sections to make it wider. You need to take an extra three cushions with you and a further wooden piece which forms part of the base. It has to be said, is pretty comfy and measuring only slightly smaller than the upstairs bed, it’s a good size.

We now get to see why the downstairs bed is slightly compromised in design in comparison to the regular Rock N Roll bed you may expect. This is because of the fantastic washroom you get here, which is exceptionally unusual for a campervan of this size.

The washroom is accessed from the inside through a sliding door. You get a swivel Thetford cassette toilet, and a removable duckboard that conceals the shower tray. The basin tap provides hot and cold water, and is also an extendable shower hose, which conveniently just about reaches outside via the tailgate – handy for rinsing off mud or sand prior to getting in the camper. There is a heater vent in the wash room adding some heat when required.

Storage space is good in the washroom, incorporating two cupboards, ideal for toiletries etc. There is also a good-sized shelf to the side of the sink providing further space.

Lift the tailgate and here you have access to the chemical toilet to remove and empty. Storage for the awning winder, leisure battery, solar panel electrics, hook up lead, fuse board, gas bottle etc All nicely concealed in the back and out of the way.

In summary

This impressive camper offers a great spec and caters for up to 4 people. With its’ excellent washroom, great kitchen, diesel heating, hot and cold water and solar panel, makes it also great for off-grid adventures. Ideal for two people during the cooler months, but can nicely cater for four in the warmer months.  To overcome the cozyness of more than two, I can also provide a drive away awning which significantly increases your space and includes a blackout bedroom. I can also provide a blow up mattress and electric pump to accompany this for your convenience.
